February 2/3, 2014 (Week 18) “God, the Source of Comfort” Isaiah 40:1-31 ======================== DIVISIONS AND PRINCIPLES ======================== ======================== First Division: Isaiah compares the present hidden glory of God with His future revealed glory. (Isaiah 40:1-5, Levitcus 26:40-45) Principle 1: God wants His people to feel comforted by the knowledge that He is coming in glory. ======================== Second Division: Isaiah compares God's Word, Care, and Power with human characteristics. (Isaiah 40:6-17) Principle 2: God's Word assures us that God is all-powerful and all-knowing and He has given believers to Jesus, who saves and shepherds them. ======================== Third Division: Isaiah compares life in idolatry with life for those who wait upon the Lord. (Isaiah 40:18-31) Principle 3: God's remedy for weariness with life is to remember His promise to return in glory and wait for Him. ========================
